Q: Where is your Mermaid Shop located?
A: The main base of the Mermaid Kat Shop is in Hanover, Germany. In 2016 we opened a branch office in Perth, Western Australia. At the moment we still manufacture our silicone mermaid tails and other products in Germany and also all the shipping still happens from Germany. Although we are working on plans to make it easier for our international customers in the near future.
Q: Who can swim in a mermaid tail?
A: Mermaid tails are suitable for strong swimmers only. In addition we recommend a minimum age of at least 8 years . When using a mermaid tail in the water you must be very confident in the water and should only do mermaiding under supervision or with an experienced buddy. Kids with shoe size smaller than 34 EU may use thick socks for a proper fit in the mermaid mono fin.
Q: Which is the right Mermaid Tail for me?
A: The fabric or spandex mermaid tail is a great mermaid tail for kids, beginners and mermaids/ mermen who travel a lot. It is light, easy to handle and affordable. Although the silicone mermaid tail is the tail every mermaid and mermen dream of. It looks realistic as no other mermaid tail and as silicone is neutrally buoyant it is wonderful for swimming. With the weight of 8-15 kg a silicone mermaid tail is not really easy to carry and so it’s not the best mermaid tail to travel. As the silicone is quite flexible there are good chances for you to find another mermaid/ mermen buying a used silicone mermaid tail off of you if you are still growing.
Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: We accept cash on self pick up, if you pick up your order in Butler, Western Australia. We also accept payments via PayPal and credit cards.
Q: How long will it take for me to receive my Silicone Mermaid tail?
A: As all our silicone mermaid tails are unique, costume sized and handmade. Therefore it can take up to 60 days until your silicone mermaid tail is ready to be shipped out. But we do our best to get it to you quickly as possible.
Q: How long does the shipping take?
A: Depending on our stock levels your purchase might be send out from our German or Australian warehouse. International shipments may take around 15 business days (Monday-Friday, public holidays not included) plus eventual delays for customs clearance. We are not responsible for shipping delays caused by the shipping company or customs. Therefore we we don’t offer any refunds for shipping delays.
Q: How do I take care of my Mermaid Tail?
A: You will get a proper instruction when you receive your mermaid tail from our mermaid shop. But anyway you should always rinse your mermaid tail after the use in chlorine or saltwater. You should avoid sitting, standing or lying on hard undergrounds while wearing your mermaid tail as this can damage your tail. Before getting into your silicone tail make sure to shorten your nails. Please make sure to read through our care instructions.
Q: How old must I be to order from this Website?
A: To register or place an order through the Website, you must have reached the age of majority (which in most countries is 18 years old) and have legal capacity to enter into a contract. Any orders placed in contravention to this provision shall be null and void.
Q: Can you teach me how to make my own Mermaid Tail?
A: Our tail making methods are unique and it took us several months with many ups and downs, uncountable prototypes and a lot of money until we found methods creating mermaid tails that reached our high standards. As creating and selling mermaid tails is our business we will not sell, trade or offer our construction methods to the public.

Q: What is Mermaiding?
A: Mermaiding is swimming in the dolphin swim style while wearing a mono fin covered with a mermaid costume usually made out of fabric, neoprene, silicone or latex.
Q: Are Mermaid Tails safe to use in the Water?
A: Mermaid tails are no swimming devices and should only been used by strong swimmers who can swim in deep water without any assistance. You should only swim in your mermaid tail with an experienced buddy or under supervision. As your legs are tight together you are in a higher risk of injury as a self-rescue might be more difficult in an emergency situation. Mermaiding is exhausting! Train your way up and get used to your mermaid tail before you use it in open water or deep water swims. We also recommend you to visit a mermaid school that teaches you the proper use of your mermaid tail. For more information visit our mermaid tail safety page.

Q: Why are Silicone Mermaid Tails so expensive?
A: If you ever tried to create a silicone tails yourself you will understand why they are so expensive. Our cheapest full silicone tails start at 1900 USD, which is compared to most other tail makers still pretty cheap. The materials for a good quality silicone tail cost over 1000 USD already. In addition to that is the making of the tail very time consuming. Silicone is a material that is not easy to work with. We do our best to keep the prices low for you but our time and effort must also be rewarded.
