Today I would like to introduce you to the “Everything Mermaid” mermaid blogger Molly. I was really excited about the interview with her and hope so are you.

1. Please introduce yourself, including where you’re from and where you’re based.

Hi, I’m Molly. I’m a Mermaid blogger for Everything Mermaid currently living in Austin Texas. I grew up in Salt Lake City Utah, and moved to Texas over 5 years ago, and LOVE it. I had no idea at the time it would become the #1 city to live in America in 2017.

2. When did you develop a love for the water?

I grew up with a pool in my backyard, and a house full of 5 kids. This pool was a little girl’s dream. We LIVED outside every summer and had all the neighbor kids over. My love for the water really started with the Disney movie “The Little Mermaid.” I was 6 when the movie came out. If you didn’t know, 6 is the prime age to fall in love with the idea of a Disney princess. Mix that in with an adventurous Mermaid and a forbidden love story! Watch out! My sister and I collected shells on vacations to the beach, pretended to play Mermaids whenever we could, and even put sink rings around our legs to imitate a tail when swimming in the pool.  Eventually we got older and the sink rings didn’t fit like they use too. Junior high came around and my sister joined the swim team. I eventually followed her example and literally joined the swim team to learn how to do the butterfly stroke. Or in my eyes, it was called the Mermaid stroke. Outside of just swimming, I loved going to Lake Powell, which is a lake in southern Utah, as a teenager. There is no better place on this earth. If you asked what I would prefer more, the beach or Lake Powell, it would be a hard decision to make. Give me anything having to do with water and I will be happy. Paddle boarding, surfing, wake boarding, snorkeling, freediving, you name it.  Living in Austin is a great fit as Lake Austin, and Lake Travis are close by.

3. What is it about Mermaids that intrigues you?

There is something intriguing about the possibility of a half human, half fish species out there. If I ever woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t fall back to sleep, I would look up and read stories about Mermaid sightings. In my 20s, I had a small statue figurine in my room of the Massachusetts Mermaid. People would comment on it and I would say “yeah, I like Mermaids… It’s just a thing!” The crazy part is… It’s not just me! Come to find out there are Mermaid lovers all around the world!

4. What do you think of the Mermaid Movement?

The Mermaid movement is amazing! Mer-folk are popping up everywhere to show off their tails. There are multiple Mermaid venues, clothing lines, productssilicone tail companies, and many more avenues to live out your Mermaid dreams.

5. Why did you decide to start a Mermaid Blog?

I am obviously passionate about Mermaids. But aside from that, this blog is really fun for me. I have made some great connections around the world with people who are passionate about the same things I am, AND I get to write about Mermaid stuff! How cool is that?

6. What do you see this blog turning into?

My hope is to become the top resource for “Everything Mermaid”. This means having the best product reviews, resources, and how to’s any Mermaid, or Merman can dream of!

7. What are your mermaid goals for the future?

I would eventually like to visit different countries to document their Mermaid facilities, as well as interview their professional Mermaids. I would especially like to be a Weeki Wachee Mermaid for a day, or maybe two.

Thank you very much Molly for the interesting interviev about your mermaid blog “Everything Mermaid”. I’m excited to read about your upcoming mermaid adventures.

If you are a mermaid or merman and would like to be interviewed for my blog, please send me an email to info@mermaidkat.com
